How to Remove the Gemini Watermark From Images (Free, No Upload)
Remove the Gemini sparkle watermark from Gemini and Nano Banana images in seconds, free and without uploading anything. Step-by-step for desktop and phone, plus fixes for JPG files.
Every image you create in the Gemini app, including pictures made with Google's Nano Banana models, ships with a small white sparkle in the bottom-right corner. It is easy to spot and annoying to crop. This guide shows the fastest way to remove the Gemini watermark for free, why the method restores the original pixels instead of guessing them, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Quick answer
Open the Gemini watermark remover on DeGemini, drop your image into the box and download the clean PNG. It takes about a second, costs nothing for single images, needs no account, and the image never leaves your browser. It works on desktop and on iPhone or Android.
What is the Gemini watermark?
The Gemini watermark is a four-pointed sparkle, the same shape as the Gemini logo, that Google blends into the bottom-right corner of images generated in the Gemini app. It comes in two sizes: a 48 px sparkle on smaller images and a 96 px sparkle on larger ones, sitting 32 px or 64 px from the right and bottom edges.
It is not the only marker. Gemini images also carry SynthID, an invisible watermark spread through the pixels. Removing the visible sparkle does not touch SynthID. We explain the difference in Gemini watermark vs SynthID.
How to remove the Gemini watermark, step by step
Step 1: Save the original image from Gemini
Download the image from the Gemini app or website rather than taking a screenshot. The remover looks for the sparkle at its exact size and position, and a screenshot changes both.
Step 2: Drop it into DeGemini
Go to degemini.app and drag the PNG, JPG or WebP file into the box, or click to browse. Files up to 30 MB work. Processing starts immediately.
Step 3: Let the sparkle be reversed
DeGemini checks the bottom-right corner against calibrated templates of both sparkle sizes. When it finds a match, it reverses Gemini's blending pixel by pixel. If no sparkle is found, nothing is changed and you see a "No Gemini watermark detected" message.
Step 4: Compare and download
Drag the before/after slider over the corner to check the result, then click Download PNG. The file is saved as a lossless PNG at the original resolution.
How to remove the Gemini watermark on iPhone or Android
There is no app to install. Open degemini.app in Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox, tap the upload box and pick the image from your photo library. When the result appears, tap Download PNG. On iPhone the file lands in the Files app, where you can share it or save it to Photos. Everything runs on the phone itself, so it also works on a slow connection once the page has loaded.
Removing the watermark from many images at once
If you have a folder of Gemini images, switch the tool to Batch mode. You can drop up to 100 images per run and download them all as one ZIP file. Batch mode costs 1 credit per image (100 credits cost $2.99) and still processes every file locally in your browser; only the number of credits is sent to our server. Single images stay free.
Why reversing the blend beats AI erasers
Most "watermark removers" use AI inpainting: they erase the logo and ask a model to imagine what was underneath. That works for random objects, but it guesses, so you can end up with smudges, changed textures or invented details.
Gemini's sparkle is different because Google adds it with a simple, fixed formula:
watermarked = original × (1 − α) + 255 × α
Here α is the transparency of the logo at each pixel. Because α is known for every pixel of the sparkle, the formula can be solved for the original:
original = (watermarked − 255 × α) / (1 − α)
That is what DeGemini does. The method and calibrated alpha maps come from the open-source work of AllenK (Kwyshell) and GargantuaX, released under the MIT license.
| Method | Result | Privacy | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| DeGemini (reverse alpha blending) | Original pixels restored exactly | Runs in your browser | Free for single images |
| AI inpainting / magic eraser | Guessed, can blur or change details | Usually uploads the image | Often paid or limited |
| Cropping | Loses the edge, changes the aspect ratio | Local | Free |
| Clone or heal tool | Depends on skill and background | Local | Editing software |
Troubleshooting
"No Gemini watermark detected." The sparkle has to be at its original size and position. Images that were resized, cropped from the right or bottom, or captured as screenshots no longer match the templates. Download the original file from Gemini again and try that.
A faint outline remains. This happens with heavily compressed JPGs: the compression already changed the pixels under the logo, so the exact reversal leaves a trace. Download the image from Gemini as PNG if you can, or use the cleanest copy you have.
The image was edited after download. Filters, color changes or upscaling alter the pixels under the sparkle. Remove the watermark first, then edit.
Is it OK to remove the Gemini watermark?
DeGemini is meant for images you created yourself. Some platforms and laws require AI-generated content to be labelled, for example in ads, political content or news, and SynthID stays in the image either way, so the picture can still be identified as AI-generated. Never use a cleaned image to pass AI content off as a real photo or to mislead people.
FAQ
Is DeGemini really free? Yes. Single images are free and unlimited with no account. Only batch mode and AI image generation use credits.
Are my images uploaded? No. The watermark is removed with the Canvas API inside your browser. You can even go offline after the page loads.
Does it work with Nano Banana images? Yes. Nano Banana images from the Gemini app carry the same sparkle, and DeGemini picks the right template size automatically.
Can it remove the watermark from Gemini or Veo videos? Not yet. Video support is on the roadmap.
Does it remove SynthID? No, only the visible sparkle. See Gemini watermark vs SynthID.
Want an image that never had a watermark? Try image to image AI or the AI image generator: upload a photo or write a prompt, and the result comes back without the sparkle.
